HCI was registered in 1971 as an educational & charitable 501(c)(3) organization. HCI’s Board of Directors and International Advisors includes professionals in media & development serving both overseas and in the USA. Originally founded as a medical support organization – in the early ’80s the thrust changed to support of media development projects & training in India & Africa. Most recently, the majority of efforts have been directed to projects in Southeast Asia. HCI keeps abreast of changes in development & media through research and practical application of existing concepts. HCI’s Communication Resources International division helps NGOs to use media more effectively in development.
